Why Your Next Phone Upgrade Should Wait Until Spring
Release cycles, trade-in values and a few hidden reasons to hold off.
Phone launches have settled into a predictable rhythm, and understanding that rhythm is the easiest way to save money.
Prices on current flagships typically fall sharply in the months after launch, while trade-in values for older models hold steady until a new generation is announced.
The software factor
Major operating system updates often arrive alongside new hardware, and the first version is rarely the most stable. Waiting a few months means fewer bugs and better battery optimization.
There are exceptions. If your phone no longer receives security updates or its battery cannot last a day, upgrade now. Otherwise, a little patience pays.
