Making tough strategic business decisions can often feel like a lonely and daunting task. Should you raise your prices? Hire your next team member or keep bootstrapping alone? Launch a new product line or focus strictly on your core offer?

Normally, working through these dilemmas requires consulting with mentors, advisors, or an executive board. But now, an open-source tool allows you to simulate that exact boardroom dynamic: Rostrum.

What is Rostrum and how does it work?

Created by Nate Ark, Rostrum is a free, open-source tool that runs directly inside your local environment—whether that's Claude Code or your terminal of choice.

The concept is straightforward yet powerful: you input your business dilemma, and 7 AI advisors sit down at the virtual boardroom table, each modeled after legendary business leaders:

  • Jeff Bezos: Focused on long-term strategy and customer obsession.
  • Paul Graham: Providing insights on product, startup ethos, and simplicity.
  • Alex Hormozi: Analyzing pricing strategies, offer structure, and sales.
  • Gary Vaynerchuk (GaryVee): Advising on marketing, audience attention, and branding.
  • Warren Buffett: Overseeing capital allocation, financials, and long-term sustainability.
  • +2 Team & Organization Experts: Helping structure your team and operational execution.

Verified sources and debate dynamics

Unlike standard generic chat assistants, Rostrum builds each AI advisor using public records, shareholder letters, essays, speeches, and video transcripts. Every point raised or quotation cited during the debate links directly back to its original source.

The advisors don't just deliver isolated opinions—they debate amongst themselves across multiple rounds. Claude acts as the "Board Chairman," moderating the discussion and tracking scores.

To prevent groupthink, if all advisors agree too quickly, the Chairman forces them to re-evaluate their positions and rigorously stress-test the decision. Once the debate concludes, Rostrum delivers a final verdict complete with a downloadable PDF report.
