Big Sean Rips EA & NFL For Censoring Colin Kaepernick Lyric in ‘Madden 19’

With the release of Madden 19 just days away, the soundtrack for the highly anticipated game is already causing a bit of controversy.

Earlier today, fans noticed something weird about the addition of YG’s latest song “Big Bank” featuring 2 Chainz, Big Sean, and Nicki Minaj. According to multiple people who have early access to the game, Sean’s verse has been edited to remove his reference to former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

According to videos posted by Polygon and on Twitter (below), the lyric “you boys all cap, I’m more Colin Kaepernick” has been changed to omit Kaepernick’s name.

“Nobody from my team approved any of this,” Big Sean tweeted, calling the censorship “disappointing and appalling. YG was apparently also unaware of the change.

Colin Kaepernick became a polarizing figure after his peaceful protest of racial injustice in America, in which he took a knee during the National Anthem at the beginning of NFL games.
