Wale Appreciates The Black Woman in New Music Video “Black Bonnie”

Wale has shared the music video for his Jacquees-assisted song, “Black Bonnie.”

The Yasha Gruben-directed visual sees the D.C. rapper celebrating black love in the vein of Bonnie and Clyde, as he takes throne in Africa. The story of romance reincarnates itself across time from the Black Panther Party era of the 1970s’ to the golden era of hip-hop in the early 1990s.

“Talk to you different, but never extra, she like the fact I get aggressive but I’m not possessive,” Wale raps. “Bad but she modest, man, staying honest, Black Bonnie Parker, black Bonnie Rotten.” Ashley Blaine Featherson from Dear White People plays the female lead in the video.
