After several delays, it appears Bad Boys 3 is finally coming in to fruition.
The film’s star Will Smith took to Instagram Monday (April 16) to wish co-star Martin Lawrence a happy birthday and to ask if he’s down to make another installment.
“Happy Birthday to the best damn partner ever. What you think Marty-Mar? One more time?” Smith captioned under an old Jet magazine cover promoting the action-comedy.
Lawrence responded with “Much love, Will. Let’s do it again for sure.”
Over the years rumors have swirled that Bad Boys 3 was on the way. In January, it was reported that directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah were in negotiations to helm the project. Initially, Joe Carnahan was set to direct but backed out due to scheduling conflicts.
Last year, Lawrence expressed doubts the film would ever be made since the decision was left up to Sony. However, he did say that he would absolutely love to work with Smith again.
“I don’t think we’re going to get one, not the way everything’s turning out,” Lawrence told Entertainment Weekly. “Will is off doing another movie, and I don’t think it’s going to happen. I’m there, I’m ready right now. If they wanted to do it, I’m ready, but I don’t have control of that. That’s the studio’s decision.”
