Brooklyn rapper Bobby Shmurda, who gained national attention for his viral single “Hot N***a,” could be released from prison much sooner than expected.
According to TMZ, Shmurda is scheduled to have a parole hearing in August 2020 and could be eligible to be paroled by December 2020 after being credited with 685 days of time served.
The 23-year-old rapper was sentenced to 6-7 years in prison in 2016 after pleading guilty to conspiracy and criminal possession of a weapon charges. While awaiting trial he was unable to raise bail and was incarcerated for about two years before sentencing.
Since his incarceration, Shmurda has racked up 11 violations including drug possession, fighting, and contraband. It’s unclear if those violations will affect the likelihood of early release, however, it’s still a raw deal.
