Richard Pryor is arguably one of the greatest comedians ever but unfortunately, that talent doesn’t necessarily run in the family. Richard’s youngest son, Mason, will appear on a forthcoming episode of Showtime at the Appollo where he’s introduced to a standing ovation but his failure to deliver results in massive boos.
The 31-year-old was off to a great start when he paid homage to his father, “Man, I’m nervous. I could literally hear my dad up in heaven right now like ‘Boy, you better not mess this up.'” After trying his hand at a few Trump-Putin jokes that fell completely flat, the crowd began to boo the young Pryor. “Sit down, sit down,” he repeated until the video comes to a close. It’s unclear whether he bounces back from it or not.
The episode airs Thursday Night on FOX.
Mason Pryor spoke with TMZ about the incident and said it was his first time performing in front of a huge audience.
“When I went out there, the first thing I did, I’m looking at the crowd, the lights, and everything. I’m like, ‘This is really nice guys. This is going to go great,’” he said. “And you can kind of tell halfway through that first Donald Trump bit, I’m like, ‘Alright, this is taking a really long time to get to the end.’”
