Shareef O’Neal Is Headed To UCLA After Arizona Scandal

Shareef O’Neal, the son of NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal, committed to UCLA on Tuesday. The 6-foot 10 high school basketball standout made the announcement on Instagram writing, “HEADING TO UCLA 💛💙 I know my mom is glad I’m staying home LOL.”

O’Neal decommitted from Arizona on Saturday following a report from ESPN that FBI wiretaps intercepted phone conversations between Arizona head coach Sean Miller and agent Christian Dawkins, who allegedly discussed a $100,000 payment to bring five-star big man Deandre Ayton to Arizona.

O’Neal, who is ranked No. 29 in the 2018 class, averaged 13.9 points and 6.5 rebounds on the Nike EYBL circuit with the California Supreme AAU program last year. He entered the week with the No. 5 recruiting class in the country which includes Moses Brown, Jules Bernard, David Singleton, and Tyger Campbell.
