Idris Elba has been a producer on films and TV for quite some time now, and now he’s turned director for his first feature. Yardie released its official trailer online and you can see it above.
The film debuted at Sundance and is screening this week in Berlin, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Adapted from Victor Headley’s novel by Brock Norman and Martin Stellman, Yardie is set in 1970s Kingston and 1980s Hackney. It follows a young Jamaican man named D (Aml Ameen), who has never fully recovered from the murder, committed during his childhood, of his older brother Jerry Dread (Evaraldo Creary). D embarks on a life of crime and a quest for revenge.
No release date has been attached to the drama yet, but we will keep you updated on when it will be hitting theaters.
