O.J. Simpson is gearing up for his first movie role in decades thanks to actor-prankster Sacha Baron Cohen who paid the former football star $20,000 to appear in his next film.
Cohen—best known for creating movie characters such as Ali G and Borat—wore a wig and thick-rimmed glasses to meet with Simpson inside a Las Vegas hotel room, a source told The Mail on Sunday.
Cohen had to give up the money before Simpson even agreed to see him, the source said.
“O.J. would not even get in the hotel room until he was paid a sackload of cash,” the source said.
“There was no way Sacha could have got O.J. into the room without paying money.”
The news of Simpson’s casting has prompted outrage from the families of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman—O.J.’s deceased ex-wife and her friend who he had been accused of murdering in 1994. The Heisman Trophy winner was eventually acquitted of all charges and ordered to fork over $25 million—a penalty that he has largely ignored.
Simpson was later convicted of an armed-robbery scheme in Las Vegas that landed him nine years in a Nevada prison.
He was released in October.
“Nicole and Ron are two human beings who were brutally murdered,” Nicole’s sister, Tanya Brown, told The Mail. “This is not a joke, nor is it entertainment.”
O.J. Simpson’s previous movie roles include the 1991 film Naked Gun, Roots, Goldie and the Boxer, and many more.
