LaVar Ball’s Big Baller Brand imprint is venturing into the water industry after partnering with Birstonas Mineral Water company.
The Lithuanian-based all-natural water company will import water to the U.S. and label it Big Baller Brand Water, per ESPN’s Darren Rovell. It will be priced similarly to brands like Perrier (a 24-pack of 16 oz. bottles goes for about $15) and San Pellegrino (24-pack of 8.4 oz bottles goes for about $17.50).
LaVar announced the partnership via Twitter writing, “Big Baller Brand Water coming soon. Imported from Europe. While speaking with Lithuanian site 15min.it LaVar had this to say:
“Which NBA player is advertising water? No one. Everyone in the US is for some reason too proud for water campaigns. There are energy drinks that get advertised, but no one even thought about water.”
While most athletes endorse companies such as Gatorade and Powerade, the only superstar currently associated with anything close to water is Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry, who endorses Brita, a company that specializes in water filters.
“People will feel that they will become ‘Big Ballers’ when they drink it. This will give the water a reputation,” LaVar added.
