Tony Rock to Monique: ‘It’s Poor Etiquette to Count People’s Money…Get Your Weight Up’

Tony Rock, the younger brother of comedian Chris Rock, has called out Monique for asking fans to boycott Netflix after the company allegedly lowballed her on an offer for a comedy special.

Monique took to Instagram on Friday to blast the streaming service, citing gender bias and race bias. She says Netflix offered her $500K for a comedy special, while comedians such as Amy Schumer, Chris Rock, and Dave Chappelle were paid well over a million.

While speaking with TMZ, Rock pointed out that Monique has been absent from the comedy scene for quite some time and that she has no business calling out other people’s salaries.

“First of all it’s never a good look it’s poor etiquette..it’s poor comedy etiquette…it’s poor people’s etiquette to count anybody else’s money,” Rock says. “Don’t worry about what somebody else’s check say. You get your weight up. You get your check to say what you want your check to say.”

Rock was then asked about Monique calling the offer gender and color bias.

“Monique ain’t been on stage in a long time,” he added. “Stand-up ain’t the type of thing you can stop doing and then just jump back in your same spot.”
