Kendrick Lamar has been tapped to curate the official soundtrack for Marvel’s highly anticipated Black Panther movie. According to a press release, the Compton rapper was handpicked by director Ryan Coogler to write, produce, perform and curate music for the upcoming motion picture.
Lamar, alongside Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, will work directly with Coogler in the creation of music specific needs, the press release notes.
“Marvel Studios’ Black Panther is amazing, from its cast to its director. The magnitude of this film showcases a great marriage of art and culture,” Lamar said in a statement. “I’m truly honored to contribute my knowledge of producing sound and writing music alongside Ryan and Marvel’s vision.”
Further details about the album remain TBC, however, the SZA assisted single “All of the Stars” was released on Thursday (Jan. 4). Check it out below.
Black Panther hits theaters February 16th.
