Following a string of sexual assault accusations, Russell Simmons has taken a lie detector test to prove that he did not assault Keri Claussen Khalighi, the woman who first accused the music mogul of rape.
On Wednesday (Dec. 13), TMZ obtained photos of Simmons taking a polygraph in L.A. that his camp say was administered by a national leader in the field of polygraphing. Simmon’s attorneys, Michael Sterling and E. Carlos Tanner, said he passed the test with flying colors and will repeat it for the other allegations against him. He and his legal team are reportedly inviting any of his accusers to take the polygraph as well.
As previously reported, Khalighi accused the Def Jam founder of forcing her to perform oral sex while his friend and director Brett Ratner looked on. Simmons initially apologized after the allegations emerged, saying “her memory of that evening is very different from mine,” but “it is now clear to me that her feelings of fear and intimidation are real.”
On Thursday (Dec. 14), Simmons launched a #NOTME campaign in response to 9 more women who have come forward with allegations, bringing the total count of accusers to 11.
Today, I begin to properly defend myself. I will prove without any doubt that I am innocent of all rape charges. Today, I will focus on “The Original Sin” (Keri Claussen), the claim that created this insane pile on of my #MeToo. Stay tuned! We’ll share information today… And tomorrow the case of Jenny Lumet. My intention is not to diminish the #MeToo movement in anyway, but instead hold my accusers accountable. #NotMe Again, this is not a movement against or even in conjunction with #Metoo . It’s just a statement about my innocence.
