The parents of a fifth-grade student at Sunrise Elementary School in Aurora, Colorado are left in mourning after their child committed suicide following a fight with a bully.
According to a report from KDVR, 10-year-old Ashawnty Davis hanged herself in a closet and spent two weeks on life support before passing away on Wednesday (Nov 29).
Ashawnty’s father, Anthony Davis, said she was a “child of joy” until a fist fight between her and another student in October surfaced on the app Musial.ly. Awshanty reportedly confronted the girl who her mother, Latoshia Harris, claims was a bully, and the two began fighting in front of a group of other students.
“She was devastated when she found out it had made it to Musical.ly,” Anonthy said.
The school district has since turned over the video to police adding, “We do not tolerate bullying of any kind in our schools.”
