Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey has announced a new task force that will thoroughly examine the flood of sexual misconduct allegations in the entertainment industry.
In a statement released on Thursday (Nov. 9), Lacy said a group of veteran sex crimes prosecutors will “ensure a uniformed approach to the legal review and possible prosecution of any case that meets both the legal and factual standards for criminal prosecution.”
The announcement of the task force coincidentally came on the same day comedian Louis C.K. was accused of sexual misconduct by five women and Mad Men show creator Mathew Weiner was accused of making a sexually explicit comment to his former staff writer.
In recent weeks accusations have been made against Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, Ed Westwick, James Toback, Charlie Sheen, Adman Venit, and several others.
Weinstein is currently under investigation for allegations of rape and forced oral sex, as well as a lewd act, the Los Angeles Times reports.
