49ers Star Marquise Goodwin Helps Team To Emotional Win After Baby Son’s Death

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Marquise Goodwin helped lead his team to their first win of the season on Sunday (Nov. 12) after he and his wife lost their prematurely born son following pregnancy complications.

Goodwin produced the 49ers biggest play of the year when he caught an 83-yard touchdown pass in their 31-21 victory over the New York Giants. After the game, he left the stadium immediately to be with his family.

The 26-year-old confirmed the loss of his son on Instagram, writing:

“Unfortunately, we lost our baby boy due to some complications, and had to prematurely deliver him early this morning around 4 a.m.,” Goodwin wrote. “Although we are hurt, I am grateful for the experience and grateful that God blessed me with a wife as courageous and resilient as Morgan.

“The pain (physically, mentally & emotionally) that she has endured is unbelievable. Please pray for the Goodwin family.”
