Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch was ejected after he made contact with an official during the team’s matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday.
Lynch ran off the sideline midway through the second quarter and into a scuffle after Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters hit Raiders quarterback Derek Carr late. Peters was penalized for the play, but several Raiders players took exception and went after him.
Lynch, who is best friends with Peters, grabbed line judge Julian Mapp by the jersey before letting go and tending to his fellow Oakland native.
It appeared Lynch might have thought Mapp was a Chiefs player before realizing he was an official.
It’s worth noting that any contact with an official is an automatic ejection.
Lynch had two carries for 9 yards before leaving.
