Report: Jay-Z Rejects NFL Offer to Perform at the 2018 Super Bowl

According to The Source Magazine, Jay-Z turned down an offer to perform during the 2018 Super Bowl halftime. The NFL is currently searching for an artist that will top last season’s performance by Lady Gaga, which was watched by as many as 117.5 million TV viewers.

Although no clear indication was given as to why Hov declined, the rapper showed his solidarity with ousted NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick last week by dedicating his record “The Story of O.J.” to him during his stage performance in NYC.

As reported by NBC Sports, the NFL did not directly dispute the report that Jay Z passed on the gig.

“No decisions have been made on the performer(s) and we are not going to speculate on particular artists,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told PFT by email. “Along with Pepsi, we know that we will put on a spectacular show. When it is time to announce her name we will do it. Or his name. Or their names.”
