A mysterious short video advertising a project called “Scream” appeared on Michael Jackson’s official Twitter account late Sunday. Although no details were shared about the project, John Branca, co-executor of the late pop icon’s estate, offered some vague hints in an interview with Variety at the Venice Film Festival on Monday.
“Now we have ‘Thriller’ 3-D, and two more announcements are coming up in the next couple of weeks,” Branca said. “Michael had an expression: ‘The quality goes in before the name goes on.’ So we are not ready to announce them yet.”
When asked if there may be an album coming of unreleased recordings from the vaults, Branca said: “I don’t foresee us releasing any more unreleased music for quite some time.” But he added: “That doesn’t mean there won’t be interesting [new] record releases in the very near future.”
According to multiple reports on Twitter as well as the website HipHop N More, posters promoting the project have appeared in Europe that read “Michael Jackson Scream: Album Out Sept. 19.” However, based on the teaser video and Branca’s comments the project could be a Halloween-themed compilation.
