When J. Cole isn’t quietly spending time with lifers in prison, he’s usually on stage rapping or using his platform to speak on major issues.
During a recent tour stop in Baltimore, the 4 Your Eyez Only rapper spoke about the city, as well as the Baltimore Ravens, who recently flirted with the idea of signing quarterback turned activist Colin Kaepernick.
While ranting to the crowd, Cole brought up B-More’s crooked cops, and how the city would benefit by having someone with real money and power to represent it.
“Matter of fact, don’t y’all think that someone that got money, power and fame should be standing up for them type of shits?” Cole explained. “Baltimore, the shit that’s happening here, don’t you think that somebody should risk their whole livelihood and their whole life to talk about this shit? Even if it cost them their money, their job, their life? Don’t that sound like Colin Kaepernick? Don’t that sound like what he doing? And he trying to come to Baltimore, the city that seems to need that shit for real.”
The 32-year-old also asked fans will they continue to support the NFL or go see the Ravens play, as many have planned to boycott the league this year for their treatment of Kaepernick.
