Police Say NY Man Stole 100+ Phones at Coachella Festival

Images released Sunday by the Indio Police Department of the phones seized during the arrest of Reinaldo De Jesus Henao on Friday, April 14, 2017.

Authorities in California arrested a man with over 100 stolen cell phones in his backpack at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival this past weekend.

Reinaldo De Jesus Henao, 36, of New York faces grand theft and possession of stolen property charges, NBC San Diego reports. Police say Henao was walking through the crowded festival picking pockets and was caught when several people noticed their phones were missing by activating the “Find My Phone” feature.

Security guards detained Henao and when police arrived, they found the stolen phones in his backpack. Some of the phones were returned to the victims the following day, police said.

If you’re still missing your phone, check in with the festival’s Lost and Found or call Indio Police at (760) 541-4291.
