Fans of Mike Epps are reportedly pissed about the comedian bringing out a kangaroo during his set at the Festival of Laughs comedy tour in Detroit on Friday (Mar 31). Epps invited handler Javon Stacks to partake in the show who carried the kangaroo around as it attempted to escape.
TMZ reports, several ticket holders were infuriated and even described the display as “violent” and “animal abuse.” Despite the backlash, Stacks said the animal wasn’t harmed and the harness he used was legal and preferable to a collar which could hurt the animal.
Stacks went viral last week when a video surfaced of him walking around Detroit with a kangaroo on a leash. He told MLive.com that it’s part of a traveling exotic zoo and he has the proper state and federal licenses.
“Inner city kids’ parents don’t have enough money to go to the zoo or transportation to go to the zoo,” he said. “When schools invite us…we perform in the gymnasium. We take 50-60 students every hour and rotate them.”
Mike Epps has yet to respond.
