The legendary Jackie Robinson is getting a 10-foot tall bronze statue placed at Dodgers Stadium on Saturday (April 15). The date marks the 70th anniversary he broke the MLB color barrier back in 1947.
Robinson’s wife, Sharon, his children, and 200 other family and friends are among the special guests committed to attend the ceremony. The statue will be the very first one installed at Dodger Stadium and the first 40,000 fans will receive a smaller replica.
Several Dodgers legends will also be in attendance including Vin Scully, Tommy Lasorda, Sandy Koufax, Don Newcombe and Dodgers owner Magic Johnson.
The Dodgers will take on the Diamondbacks that day.
