Cuba Gooding Sr. Dead at 72

Authorities reportedly found popular soul singer Cuba Gooding Sr. dead Thursday afternoon in the San Fernando Valley.

TMZ reports, Cuba Gooding Jr.’s dad was found slumped over in his Jaguar filled with empty booze containers, and police suspect a possible overdose.

Gooding was known best for two group hits, “Everybody Plays the Fool” and “Just Don’t Want to be Lonely,” before temporarily going solo in the late-’70s.

He was 72.

He and his wife, Shirley, had 4 children together — including actors Cuba and Omar. They split up in 1974 but remarried in 1995.
