Master P Taps Queen Latifah and Wendell Pierce For ‘King of the South’ Biopic

Master P is preparing to take his story to the big screen in a new biopic titled King of the South. The rapper has reportedly enlisted Queen Latifah and The Wire’s Wendell Pierce for the upcoming project.

“The timing is right for me to tell my story,” P said. “It was tough back then especially being from the South, New Orleans was the murder capital at the time. I want others to learn from my mistakes and understand my work ethic of never giving up, no matter what it may look like. If you believe in yourself, keep your faith in God strong and stay close to your family, you can accomplish anything. Life is about choices, there’s no limit to your success if you work hard.”

When P first broke the news back in 2015, Latifah was tapped to play the role of his mother, however, her role now is currently unknown. Open casting for the film will be held in New Orleans on Tues. April 4. The No limit Records CEO hopes to cast as many New Orleanians as possible. Filming is expected to begin this Summer.
