Jay-Z Narrates Why The ‘War on Drugs’ Was an Epic Failure

In a very profound op-ed video for The New York TimesJay-Z explains why the infamous War on Drugs was a complete failure.

In this short clip, the rapper talks about drug dealers being singled out as the sole reason for destroying inner city communities, while simultaneously social safety nets were cut, schools were defunded, jobs moved away and wealth became increasingly concentrated.

Jay also touches on mandatory minimum sentences that disproportionately affected blacks and Latinos, as well as the racism embedded in how drug laws were written and enforced.
